Irene R. Ross

Irene Ross, 84, of Urbana, Illinois went to be with her Lord peacefully at home on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Irene, daughter of Lee and Mae Grider, was born on January 17, 1938, in Rantoul, Illinois. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, and one grandson. She is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, Robert Claire Ross, 5 children, James Bryan Ross (Carol) of Ogden, Illinois, Rebecca Ann Dillman of Urbana, Illinois, Jack Benton Ross (Pam) of Ogden, Illinois, Robin Lynn Wynne (Steve) of Champaign, Illinois and Robert Charles "Chuck" Ross (Lori) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Irene was loved and cherished by so many family and friends. She was a member of CU Church Urbana Illinois and had very strong faith. Irene enjoyed spending time with family and friends, loved to shop, and was very involved in the church. Early in life and after having her older children, she was an LPN at Burnham City Hospital in Champaign, Illinois and then later after her youngest started school, she worked in food service for the Urbana School District, and went on to work at Sears in Champaign, Illinois for many years, at Miracle Ear at Marketplace Mall in Champaign, Illinois, and at Walmart in Urbana, Illinois for many years before retiring in 2015.

We want to thank the wonderful physicians, nurses, and staff at Carle Foundation Hospital and Carle Clinic in Urbana, Illinois, as well as the great team of nurses and staff of Carle Hospice, both providing her with so much care and support over the last weeks of her life.

Sunset Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. There will be a private Celebration of Life Service, and she will be laid to rest at Mount Olive Cemetery in Mayview, Illinois.
