Irene Lewis

Agnes Irene Lewis, 87, of Danville, died at 12:05 PM on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Hawthorn Inn in Danville. She was born August 12, 1918 in Vermilion County, Illinois the daughter of Thomas E. and Alnora M. (Elliot) Allison. She married James Ransom Lewis on September 6, 1952 at the St. James Methodist Church in Danville. Irene is survived by her husband James of Danville; one sister Ruth (Edward) Rennels of San Antonio, Texas; one niece: Beth Rennels of Morrison, Colorado; one nephew: Douglas Rennels of Omaha, Nebraska; and numerous cousins. She was prceded in death by her parents. Irene graduated from Henning High School and Eastern Illinois University. She worked as a teacher and as book keeper for Lewis Sand and Gravel until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Vermilion County Museum Society, Double I Gem and Mineral Society, and the Iris Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
