Irene L. Lee

Champaign; Irene L. Lee, 94, of Champaign, was born into eternity at 4:35 pm on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Heartland Healthcare of Champaign. Irene was born into life on March 7, 1919 in Marianna, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Will Butler and Sally Hinton. She married Johnny Lee in Marianna, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 18th of 2002. Surviving Irene are her daughter, Helen Brown of Champaign; 5 grandchildren, Monica Lewis of Chicago, Anna Tibbs of Indianapolis, Kevin Lee of Champaign, Cory Brown of Hammond, Indiana, and Stephen Brown of Chicago. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Rose Marie McCoy of Champaign, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and one son, James Lee. A celebration of the life of Irene Lee will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 28th, 2013 at St. Luke CME Church, 809 N 5th Street in Champaign, with Rev. Clarence Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow services at Lincoln Cemetery. Visitation of family and friends will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church prior to services.
