Irene (Lahmann) Galindo

Irene Galindo, 102, of Rantoul, IL was called home to her Lord on the afternoon of Saturday, August 3, 2024 from her home.

A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by 6 children, Shirley Peterson of Beaverton, OR; Helen Browning of Peoria, IL; Debra (Gordon) Peterson of Estes Park, CO; Ernie (Annie) Galindo of Gibson City, IL; Glenda Buhr of Decatur, IL; Mark Galindo of Rantoul, a sister Shirley (Larry) Houston of Sedro Woolley, WA, 11 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, a sister and her eldest son David.

She was born June 9, 1922 in Wellington, CO, a daughter of Nicholas and Lillie (Wolff) Lahmann.  She married Everett Galindo on June 26, 1948 in Wellington.  He preceded her in death on January 20, 1998.

Irene was baptized July 1922 and confirmed August 9, 1936.  She was a member of the American Lutheran Church for many years.  She enjoyed counted cross stitch, crocheting, reading and being with family.

Likes and dislikes – “I like being with family whenever possible. I like to shop. I like Bible studies.  I dislike gossip, tale-bearing, holding grudges. I pray for all my family, my friends, my country and at times for those who may be considered enemies.  Everyone needs prayer and forgiveness.”

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 on Friday afternoon at the American Lutheran Church, 500 Church Street, Rantoul.  Rev. James Lehmann will officiate.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Eden Park Cemetery, Rantoul.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 on Thursday evening at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul.
