Irene G. Collom

Irene G. Collom, 83, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 4:51pm, Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman. She was born on February 12, 1927, in Georgetown, the daughter of George and Rosa {Johnson} Cook, both deceased. She was wed to Vernon A. Collom on December 6, 1945, until his death on March 18, 1999. Irene is survived by: her sons, Donald (Karen) Collom of Paris & Thomas (Dianne) Collom of Catlin; her grandchildren, Deanna (Bobby) Leonard, Tracy Collom, Amy (Brad) Peterson, Lisa (Matt) Trimble, Chastity (Gary) OHair, Michael Collom, Tricia (Josh) Northam, Jeff (Diane) Newell, & Jennifer Newell; her 22 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: six brothers, three sisters, and 2 great grandchildren. Irene retired from General Electric in Danville after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Dangee Club. She liked working on the farm, gardening, and canning, as well as, making chicken & noodles for her family. Above all, Irene cherished her family, especially her grandkids. A Celebration of Irenes life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Chapel, a Life Celebration Home, in Georgetown with Pastor James Blue to officiate. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to service on Saturday. She will be laid to rest in Elwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village Alzheimers Unit.
