Irene Elizabeth Cunningham

Danville Irene Elizabeth Cunningham, 84, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born on February 10, 1938 in Danville, IL to Jay C. and Elcia (Stambaugh) Davis. Irene married W.O. Cunningham on February 14, 1998 in Danville, IL.

Irene is survived by her husband; daughter Ann (Mike) Small; step-children Michael (Kelly) Cunningham and Jill (James) Henrich; grandchildren William and Wyatt; step-grandchildren Brooke, Megan, Josh, and Jenna; step-great-granddaughter Amelia; siblings Robert (Mary) Davis; Dorothy Wonderlin, and Laura Curry; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Richard E. Goodner; siblings Jo Ann Davis; Emma Mullins, Gerry King, Viola Sliva, James Davis, and Jean Davis.

Irene enjoyed dancing, going to the beach, playing golf, and going out to eat. She was a fan of Illini sports. Irene liked to travel and enjoyed trips to Kentucky with her husband. She loved spending time with her family. Irene had a caring heart and always considered how she could help others. She fought through many physical ailments with a positive outlook and is now at peace in Heaven. Irene will be missed by all that knew her.

Visitation will be held from 9am-11am on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N Vermilion Street Danville, Illinois, 61834. Service will follow at 11am at the funeral home. Graveside committal will follow at Gordon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Irenes name to Alzheimers Association.
