Irene Dorothy Walge, 88, of Danville, passed away at 8:39 a.m. Saturday, July 16th, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Irene was born on May 29th, 1923 in Gonzales, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Lucy Irene (Koloffel) Schaumleffel. She married Tom Louis Walge on July 5th, 1940 at the Holy Trinity Church in Danville by Father Zulch. He survives. She is also survived by four children- Joseph (Carla) Alfred Walge of Danville, Sue (Rod) Hornor of Slidell, Louisiana, Sally (Theodore) Limp of Stonington, Illinois and Sharon (Donald) Van Allen of Danville; seven grandchildren- Adam W. (Mandi) Grimes of Danville, Jamie (Kevin) Allen of Henning, Sherry (Jeff) Peterson of Macon, Illinois, Bradley W. (Linda) Hornor of Marietta, Georgia and Shelly Sue (John) Hluck of Charlotte, North Carolina; ten great- grandchildren- Stephanie Ann (Jesse) Allen Herron of Bismarck, Kevin Allen Jr. of Henning, Laura Marie Hornor of Marietta, Georgia, Dylan Hornor of Marietta, Georgia, Luke Henry Hornor of Marietta, Georgia, Riley Elizabeth Peterson of Macon, Illinois, Emily Ann Peterson of Macon, Rene Morgan Hluck of Charlotte, North Carolina and Brandon Hornor Hluck of Charlotte, North Carolina; and two great-great grandchildren- Noah and Myeleigh Herron both of Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law- Carolyn Estes Walge, two grandchildren- Robert Dowers and Steven Walge, great-grandchild- Brittaney Allen, and two brothers- Hershel Schaumleffel and Raymond J. Schaumleffel. Irene attended Danville High School. She worked at SS Kresges as a clerk for several years until she retired. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Danville and a past cauldron member at the GAO Grotto. Irene volunteered several years at the school when her children were in school. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading books. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends. A Celebration of the life of Irene D. Walge will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Father Geoffrey Scanlon officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Church.
