Perrysville, Ind. - Irene Bassett, 98, of Perrysville, passed away at 12:29 p.m. EST Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at her residence.
She was born August 3, 1922 in Harveysburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Jesse and Hazel Shoaf Wakeland.
She married Glenn D. Bassett on June 17, 1950 in Catlin, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2019.
Survivors include four grandchildren: Lori (Bob) Townsend of Flagler Beach, Florida; Pam (Bradd) Bowman, Alan Goodwin and Tricia (Ryan) Bush all of Perrysville, Indiana; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her daughter: Glenda Taylor, and sister: Dorene Bean.
Irene was a homemaker. She was a twenty plus year member of the Stringtown Church of God south of Covington, Indiana. She enjoyed cooking, embroidering, raising flowers, feeding birds and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. EST Monday, November 30, 2020 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana. A private family service will be held following public visitation. Officiating: Rev. Keith Klossner; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville; Due to the current Governor mandate and per the family's request, face coverings will be required.
