Danville- Irene Sheehan, 86, of Danville is peacefully at rest after declining health. She passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at North Logan Health Care in Danville. She was born on January 26, 1926 in Chicago to James and Anne Foster Miller. She married Daniel J. Sheehan II on June 19, 1948 in Danville at St. Paul's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death. Surviving are her adult children, John (Jan) Sheehan of Garner, NC, Kathleen (Tom) Moony of Cary, IL, Bridget (Jim) Holem of Danville, Tim Sheehan of Danville, and Molly Sheehan, also of Danville; son-in-law Alan Mackiewicz of Danville; twelve grandchildren, Anne Marie (Erik) Janis of Bloomington, IL, John (Amelia) Moony of Chicago, Tim Moony of Cary, IL, Nicholas Nakamura of Champaign, IL, Brian (Jeri Norton) Neumann of Champaign, Allison (Dustin Sheahan) Neumann of Danville, Tyana Sheehan of Danville, Aislinn Sheehan of Washington, D.C., Brenna Sheehan of Wilmington, NC, Kailie Sheehan of Garner, NC, Alan (Tara) Holem of Madisonville, KY, and Tara (Joey) Holmes of Kentucky; eleven great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Janis, Haiden Janis, Evan Janis, Kenji Nakamura, Braeden Neumann and Brylee Neumann, Audrey Jones, Sophia and Vince Holem, and Courtland and Cidney Holmes. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Anne Foster Miller Finney and James Miller, three children, Michael Sheehan, Daniel J. Sheehan III, and Margaret Sheehan Mackiewicz, and a lifelong friend Nancy Leverenz Faas. As a young child during the depression, Irene's parents moved the family from Chicago, IL to Bismarck, IL where they purchased a farm. When Irene was 8 years of age her father passed away. She and her mother, Anne Foster Miller, moved to Danville. Irene then went on to graduate from Danville High School in 1943 and later got her associates degree from Business College. She had worked for the Telephone Company and East Park Junior High School, and last worked for the Interstate Water Company, now Aqua Illinois. Irene had performed with Danville Light Opera, was a member of the Danville Garden Club, and served on the Reunion Committees for her High School Class. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Irene's family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at North Logan Healthcare for their dedication and service to the care of their mother. A funeral mass for Irene Sheehan will be held at 10 AM on Friday, June 1, 2012 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery at a later time with the family. Father Robert Hoffman will officiate. Visitation will take place from 5-7 PM on Thursday, May 31, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:30 PM prior to visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church or to Passages Hospice.
