Iona L. Placencia

Iona Placencia, 99, of Danville, passed away at 10:50pm June 15, 2017. Iona was born in Danville on June 5, 1918 the daughter of Clyde and Ella Crowder. Iona is survived by her daughter, Joyce A. Gardner of Oakwood; son, Gary W. (Betty) Scarlett of Texas; step-daughter, Rosalyn (Louise) Perez of California; 6 grandchildren, Lisa (David) Watson, Michael (Amy) Scarlett, Tiffany (Brett) Harrison all of Texas, Ryan Gardner of Ridge Farm, Matt (Susie) Gardner of Ridge Farm and 8 great-grandchildren. Iona is preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Placencia, son, Jack W. Scarlett and daughter Cheryl L. Priest. Iona was a graduate of Danville High School in 1936. She lived 25 years in California before moving back to Danville where she spent the rest of her years. In her spare time, she could be found gardening and she enjoyed playing Bingo. Iona will be missed by her family and everyone she met over her many years. A Graveside Service for Iona will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery at 301 E. Voorhees St. in Danville on Tuesday June 20, 2017 at 10am. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Garver. Sunset has been entrusted in making the arrangements.
