Imogene M. Bishop

Newport, Ind. -- Imogene M. Bishop, 89, of Newport, Indiana, passed away at 2:10 a.m. EDT Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, Indiana. She was born December 14, 1920 in Newport, Indiana, the daughter of the late Crawford and Norma Williams McMullen. She married William W. Bishop on February 14, 1942 in Newport, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1998. Survivors include: one daughter, Jane(Don)Coonce of Cayuga, Indiana; one son, Thomas H.(Frances)Bishop of Clinton, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Walter Max Bishop and James Dulgar; one brother, Gerald McMullen. Imogene worked for 30 years at the 1st Citizens State Bank of Newport, retiring in 1974. She was a 1938 graduate of Newport High School. Imogene was a member of the Newport Bunco Club. She enjoyed word search puzzles and taking daily walks. Funeral services: 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Steve Vitaniemi and Pastor Larry Lilly; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 11 a.m. EDT until time of services Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the funeral home.
