Imogene 'Jean' Beckley

Imogene "Jean" Beckley, 88, of Danville passed away at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center on February 22, 2022. Jean was born in Danville to parents Howard and Valera Hearnley on May 24, 1933. They preceded her in death. Also preceding Jean was her husband James Andrew Beckley and children Karen Wilson and James "Larry" Beckley. She is also reunited in death with her siblings Gerald Hearnley, Stacy (Carol) Hearnley, June (Myron) Cunningham, and brother-in-law Tony Johnson.

Being a farmers wife, Jean was awarded the opportunity to also own her own bakery, Jeans Upper Crust, for many years. She attended the Bismarck Christian Church where she not only sang in the choir but also taught Sunday School and directed their Cherub Choir. Later in her life, she began attending Crossroads Christian Church in Danville. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines and considered the other ladies in her group her second family. She was a Scout Leader and drove for Faith in Action where she made many special connections, in particular with the low-vision group. Jean was an avid Cubs fan, and it was well known not to call during a game for any time the Cubs were playing, the rest of the world could wait until they finished. She loved working outside in the yard with her flowers as well.

Jean is survived by her son Howard (Jacque) Beckley and grandchildren Evan Jean (Robert) Lawrence, Amanda (John) Cox, Lauren (Cody) Morton, Brittany Beckley, and Bethany (Bryan) Hummel. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Gavin Morton, Alivia and Liam Harrison, and Matthew and Catherine Imogen Lawrence, her sister Joanne Johnson, and sister-in-law Sally Hearnley. Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren; they were the world to her. She will be deeply missed by those surviving.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. A funeral service celebrating Jeans life will follow at 2:00 pm at the Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Rossville Cemetery following services on Saturday.
