Ilomay Clark Millerin

Champaign Ilomay Clark (Lyons) Millerin, 82, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 peacefully at her home in Champaign, IL. She was born on July 18, 1936 in Coal City, IL to Orville and Marion (Clark) Lyons. She graduated from Coal City High School in 1954. Ilomay married John (Jack) Millerin on May 14, 1960 in Joliet, IL. They made their home in Morris, IL for over 20 years until they moved back to Joliet.

Ilomay is survived by her daughter Susan (Kurt) Lenschow; and granddaughters Kylie and Erin. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Ilomay touched many lives throughout the years. She was always the first to volunteer and welcome a newcomer. She loved helping others as was evidenced by her volunteering at church, as a 4-H Leader and with the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. After her move to Champaign to be closer to family, she continued to make genuine connections with many during her work at Carle Clinic and giving tours at Curtis Apple Orchard. She drew such joy from lending a hand, comforting a friend or even a stranger who then became a friend. She loved Jesus and her quiet time daily with God, doing crossword puzzles, knitting and scrapbooking many memories. But her favorite times were shared with othersshe was an avid Illini fan and enjoyed a good tailgate and experiencing Illini events during Kurt and Sues time as students and more recently watching Kylie and Erins adventures. She also loved working together for a cause at church or volunteering, watching her granddaughters sporting events and chatting one on one with so many along the way. She always had time to listen and offer a hug. Her genuine smile, gentleness and intentional acts of kindness have touched so many.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Champaign, Illinois 710 N Neil St. Champaign, Illinois 61820. A celebration of life service will be held in Ilomays honor at 11am on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 40 Houbolt Rd, Joliet, IL 60431. Gathering time will be 10am at the church. Burial of cremated remains will be held at a future date in the spring. Memorial donations may be made in her name and sent to her family as they are establishing a memorial account. The family will be using this account to continue Ilomays legacy of goodness by giving to those in need in our community and doing random acts of kindness that Ilomay loved to do for those who could use a smile and a kind gesture.
