Illene Thompson, 80, of Danville, passed away at 11:30P.M., Sunday, June 29, 2008 at North Logan Healthcare Center in Danville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 28, 1928 in Catlin, the daughter of Vernon and Bessie (McMillan) Smiley. Illene married Eldon Leroy Thompson on July 6, 1946 in Covington, IN; he preceded her in death on January 9 1996. She is survived by two sons, Steve (Deb) Thompson of Gifford, IL and Lance (Carol) Thompson of Covington, IN, three daughters, Diana (Donald) Larsen of Oakwood, IL and Karen (Ray) Reitsma of Farmer City, IL and Penny (David) Porter of Springfield, IL, 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Bob (Peg) Smiley of Tilton and Vernon (Nina) Smiley of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Roger, one granddaughter, Gina, one brother, Roger Skeet Smiley, and two sisters, Mary Hall and Beverly Zimmerman. Illene worked many years at Peterson-Puritan. She was a member of the Christian faith. Illene enjoyed growing flowers, reading, painting, and embroidery. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. A celebration of life for Illene Thompson will held at 10:00A.M., Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St., with Pastor Gary Milton officiating. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8P.M. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Illenes name to the Alzheimer Association
