Danville – Ian M. Rose, 43, of Danville passed away at 8:34 PM on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. He was born on February 3, 1982 in Danville to Jonathan and Margaret (Huber) Rose.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Rose; four children, Collin, Clara, Ailbhe, and Malcom Rose; three siblings, Suzzen (Adam Sporluck) Rose, Sean (Michelle Alden) Rose, and Meghan (Tom) Mabary; his partner, Karmen Stromley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.

Ian earned his Culinary Arts Degree from Kendall College in Chicago. He used his skills as a chef most recently on the U of I campus for Campus Fresh. He was also a talented musician and played a number of instruments, including banjo, guitar, drums, and even sang. Ian loved plants of all kinds, most recently becoming interested in ferns, and was known by many as an amateur botanist. He also collected many different varieties of rocks and minerals and spent some of his free time volunteering for food pantry and other community resources.

A service to celebrate the life of Ian Rose will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Michael Witherspoon will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will also be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service on Wednesday, also at Sunset in Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Danville.
