Monticello; Ian Joseph Wagner, 4, of Monticello, passed away courageously on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Ian was born December 19, 2009 in Peoria Illinois, the son of Wayne A. and Caroline M. Moller Wagner of Monticello. Other survivors include his favorite best dog, Buzz Lightyear; his maternal grandparents, Jim “Papa” and Linda “Mimi” Moller of Champaign; paternal grandparents, Del “Papa D” and Vicki “Nana” Wagner of Thomasboro; paternal great-grandparents, Billy and Phyllis Wagner of Pittsfield; maternal uncle and aunts, Jamie (Jill) Moller of White Heath, Illinois and Quinn (Tracy) Moller of Pine Village, IN.; paternal aunt, Stacey (Greg Riffel) Wagner of Thomasboro; 2 cousins, Jacob “J.J.” and Morgan “Momo” Moller of Pine Village; and many great aunts, uncles, extended cousins, and friends, and even strangers that Ian impacted during his 4 short years. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Leroy and Midge Boyer and Maternal great-grandparents, Joseph and Betty Zwick and Larry and Agnes Moller. Although his life on earth was short, Ians smile was contagious, and he left an impression on the heart of all those that were fortunate enough to have met him. Ian loved his superheroes, especially Batman, Spidie, Superman, and Buzz Lightyear. He enjoyed swimming, the outdoors, riding his scooter, trips to the park, walking “Buzz” the dog, and kitties. He was also very fond of Lightning McQueen and his “beep beeps”. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Johns Catholic Chapel on the campus of the University of Illinois. Officiating services will be Monsignor Gregory Ketchum. Following services, Ian will be laid to rest with his favorite bedtime toy”Night Night the Crab” by his side. Visitation of family and friends will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Champaign-Urbana Chapel, 710 N Neil St. Champaign. In honor of Ian, please wear your favorite superhero shirt to the funeral home for visitation. Thats the way Ian would want it. In lieu of flowers, Ians parents would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.
