Tangier, Ind. - Hugh W. Doty, Sr., 64, of Tangier, Indiana, passed away at 9 a.m. EST Friday, December 28, 2012 at his residence. He was born January 4, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Mary Kathleen Wampler Doty. Hugh first married Donna English, and from this marriage they had three childen. Surviving, Hugh(Stacey)Doty, Jr. of Tangier, Indiana and Shayna(Neil)Thompson of Berea, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Macah Cook (March 2012). He later married Karen Sue Campbell, and from this marriage they had two children. Surviving, Kari Doty of Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Kristy Doty. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Kathleen G.(Mike)McCall of Hammond, Louisiana; two brothers, Myron A.(Dale)Doty of Smyrna, Tennessee and Robin Doty of Hammand, Louisiana, and a special friend, Roxanne Doty of Bloomingdale, Indiana. Hugh retired from Quaker Oats Company in Danville, Illinois as a maintenance superintendent. He later worked as a under sheriff in Seminole County, Oklahoma. Hugh was a veteran of the United States Navy and a Vietnam Veteran. While in the Navy he received two bronze stars. Hugh attended Turkey Run High School. He was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Rainbow Post 263 and the Parke County Coon Hunters Club. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and farming. At Hugh's request, cremation was accorded. Graveside services: 1 p.m. EST Friday, January 4, 2013 at Rush Creek Cemetery, Tangier, Indiana with military rites by the Cayuga American Legion Rainbow Post 263; DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
