CATLIN- Hubert Tatar, 87, of Catlin, passed away at 7:40am on Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Mr. Tatar was born in Danville, on February 28, 1919, and raised in Westville. He was the son of Anton and Anna (Wrobel) Tatar. Both his parents precede him in death. Hubert married Frances Marie Church on August 16, 1952, in which they had two children, Joseph (Susan) Tatar of Wisconsin, and Cheryl Tatar (Amber Mandley) of Chicago, IL; his 4 grandchildren, Anthony (Heidi) Tatar of Missouri, Andrew Tatar of WS, Joseph Tatar II of WS, and Casmir Mandley-Tatar of Chicago; his 4 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Tatar, Zachary Tatar, Judith Tatar, Lucas Tatar; his 3 nieces, Sandra (Robert) Young of Oakwood, Catherine (Robert) Biage of Peru, IL, and Alice (Paul) Fletcher; his special companion of the later years, Betty Keith of Oakwood. Huberts wife, Frances, his 4 brothers-Joe, Roy, Otto, and Frank Tatar, his 2 sisters-Sabina Danko, Eleanor Tatar, and 2 nieces-Kaayane Kazantzis and Linda L. Hommedier, precede him in death. Hubert graduated from Westville High School in 1936, and was later a veteran of the Army Air Corp, working on air craft as crew chief, working his way up to Master Sergeant, during WWII. After the Army, Hubert worked for the railroad company as a conductor until retirement. His memberships included; the Westville American Legion Post#51, the Danville Moose, and Elks Lodge, as well as the Railroad Retirees Breakfast Club, and the United Transportation Union. He loved to fish, was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan, and cherished his time spent with family and friends. A Catholic Mass Celebration will be held for Mr. Hubert Tatar at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. Father David Erickson will officiate the service. Final resting place will be at Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Westville American Legion Post#51. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Monday, August 7, 2006 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Home located at 414 S. State St. in Westville with a Rosary to be held at 3:30pm Monday at the funeral home. The Tatar family has requested that memorial donations may be made in Huberts name to the American Diabetes Foundation.
