Hubert 'Ray' Brian

Champaign-Hubert "Ray" Brian of Champaign IL. passed away on Tuesday, May 1,2018 in Urbana. Ray was born on November 21, 1927, in Sumner IL. the son of Bert and Minnie Brian. He is survived by Catherine, his wife of 64 years; siblings, Loren Brian, Roberta Miller and Lois Brian; as well as several nieces and nephews. Ray proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. during WWII. He was employed by the Illinois Power Company as an electric meter foreman, retiring after 38 years. He was also a member of the Elks Club and a 65 year member of the IBEW Local 51. Ray enjoyed rooting for the Chicago White Sox and loved spending time with his dog Soo-Z. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Alan Brian; sisters, Anita Jones, Wanda Fowler, Vera Wittig, Erma Jean Brian; and infant brother; Merrill Brian. A graveside inurnment will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 11am at East Lawn Cemetery in Urbana IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Ray's name to The Champaign County Humane Society in Urbana.
