Hubert B. "Bert" Makemson 90, of Danville went to his heavenly home at 10:30p.m. Friday September 21, 2012 at Colonial Manor. He was born on November 4, 1921 in Danville the son of David Earl and Edna Beddow Makemson. Bert married Margaret L. Leverich on March 24, 1946 in Danville; she preceded him on February 16, 2005. Those who will miss him dearly are his son Craig (Saundra Brooks) Makemson of Danville and his daughters Phyllis Myers and Joann (Michael) Puhr both of Danville, his grandchildren; Lucas Myers, Ben (Cheri) Makemson, Chris (Ashley Morgan)and Andrew Puhr, Stefanie Garrison , Beth (Phillip) Fuller, also his great-grandchildren; Tyler Garrison, Noah Wall,Rebekah Wall, Gauge Makemson, Lacinda Fuller, Joshua Fuller, Christina Fuller and Katelyn Makemson, his sister; Patsy (Dale) Nabors of Champaign. A sister in-law; Irene Makemson of Chattanooga, TN,, Bert was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Marilyn Makemson, a daughter in-law Dianne Makemson,a son in-law Bob Myers, one brother Carl three sisters; Mildred Green, Helen Donnelly and Edith Richardson. One Granddaughter; Andrea Puhr, great-grandson; Logan Makemson. Bert was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the South Pacific. Bert's first job was selling shoes at Barker's shoe store and then at Meis Department store. For a short time he delivered milk for Producer's Dairy. After that he began selling insurance for Prudential Insurance Company where he worked for 31 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church; Bert was a Mason and a member of Anchor Lodge. Bert enjoyed listening to Barber shop Quartet music, golfing, playing bingo at CRIS, loved to go fishing, and napping in his favorite chair. Most of all he enjoyed his loving family and spending time with his grandchildren. A celebration of life funeral service for Hubert B. Makemson will be Wednesday 10 A.M. September 26, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Officiating will be Pastor Al Rudy. Visitation for family and friends friends will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday September 25, 2012 at the funeral home. Place of rest will be in Sunset Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers Memorials in Bert's memory can be given to the charity of the donor's choice..
