Howard W. Wilson 75 of Oakwood passed away at 7:40 A.M. Saturday December 29, 2007 at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana. He was born May 19, 1932 in Danville the son of Clarence and Phyllis Carter Wilson. Howard married Joan Rich on April 12, 1952 in Anawalt, West Virginia, she survives, also surviving are three sons: Keith (Lila) Wilson, Jim (Patty) Wilson and Alan (Diane Coleman) Wilson all of Danville, one sister: Betty (Ken) Cary of Naples, FL, Six grandchildren: Misty (Teddy) Halaby of Denver, CO, Mickey (Tara) Wilson of Rantoul, Ryan (Sarah) Wilson of Danville, Jamie Wilson of Danville, Cody Wilson of Washington, IN, Skylar Wilson of Indianapolis, three Great-granddaughters: Caroline, Marli Jo, Josephine. His parents and a special daughter-in-law Debbie Wilson preceded Howard in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air force serving from 1950 to 1955, which he was very proud of. Howard opened Wilsons Standard in July of 1955 located at 445 N. Vermilion St, and at one time had four different locations. In 1970, he opened Wilsons Auto and Transmission Service and after 31 years of automotive service, he retired in 1986. He was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church, also the Pollywogs Association and former member of Elks Lodge #332, V.F.W Post 728, and American Legion Post 210. Howard was a 32-degree mason and coached American Legion Baseball St.James youth Basketball. He enjoyed the Chicago Cubs and University of Illinois Sports. Howard loved spending time with his family and many friends. A celebration of life funeral service will be Thursday January 3, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Sunset Funeral Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Officiating the funeral will be Pastor Allen Miller. Place of rest will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation for Family and friends will be 4-8 P.M.
