Howard Lee Baker Sr., 69, of Danville, died at 10:22 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2005 at his residence. He was born on January 5, 1936 in Edgar County, the son of Cecil and Pearl Marie (Berlin) Baker. He married Colleen Kay Allison on March 24, 1962 in Rossville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 29, 1994. He is survived by: 1 sons- Howard (Ellen) Baker Jr. of Bismarck, Illinois; 3 daughters- Chris (Bob) Miles of Collison, Illinois, Judy (Randall) Zindars of Penfield, Illinois and Susan (Billy) Tuggle of Bismarck, Illinois; 2 brothers- William Baker from the State of Texas and Wayne (Nancy) Baker of Clearwater, Florida; 5 sisters- Catherine Pierce of Danville, Norma Selsor of Catlin,, Marjorie (Howard) Gaddis of Hoopeston, Illinois, Virginia Marquardt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Ruth Baker of Kennesaw, Georgia; 1 sister-in-law- Verna Mae Baker of Danville; 7 grandchildren- Kevin Miles, Abby Miles, Kyle Zindars, Morgan Zindars, Allison Baker, Adam Baker, and Tanner Tuggle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 son- Jason Scott Smith; 1 brother- John Baker; 1 sister-in-law- Marie Baker; 2 Brother-in-law- William Selsor and Warren Marquardt. Howard was a 1955 graduate of Potomac High School. He retired from Mervis Industries in 1984. He was a member of Northland Christian Church. He enjoyed woodworking, walking and calling bingo at the Vermilion House.
