Homer Charles Abney Danville - Homer Abney, 89, of Danville, IL , went to be with the Lord at 6:00 am November 21, 2013 at Danvilles VA Illiana Healthcare System. Homer was born the son of Troy and Orphia (Watts) Abney on May 9, 1924 in Beattyville, Kentucky. He married Lorna M. Copas July 8, 1945 in Danville, IL, she survives. Also surviving are: Marla (Gary) Watson of Danville, IL; Lori Abney Fox of Vista, CA; five grandchildren, Ryan Watson, Aaron (Rachel) Watson, Milo Fox, Morgan Fox and Spencer Fox; two great-grandchildren, Aubren Watson and Otis Watson; sister Regina (Robert) Foreman; two sister-in-laws, Fannie Mae Abney and Ruby Lockwood. Homer was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Doyle and Darrell Abney. Homer enjoyed fishing with his son-in-law, Gary, golfing, gardening, growing flowers, watching the birds, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #210 and was involved in the 40 and 8 group. He also involved himself in Habitat for Humanity, building houses, and was a member of the Northland Church of Christ and is now a current member of Crossroads Christian Church. Homer was the owner of Frey Tire Company for 30 years. A celebration of Homers life will be held on Saturday November 23, 2013 at 11:00 am Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. A visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday November 22, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Homers name to Crossroads Christian Church or March Of Dimes.
