Homer Amos

Homer F. Amos, age 70, of Bismarck, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born October 4, 1939 in Danville the son of William and Helen (Brown) Amos. Homer married Dolly Harper on July 8, 1961 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by his two daughters: Penny (Ricky) Boyd of Portage, IN, Donna (Bill) Murray of Gonzales, Louisiana; two brothers: Walter (Nadine) Amos of Danville, David Amos of Georgetown; one sister: Mary (Phil) Castle of Arizona; and three grandchildren: William Joshua (Amber) Carrigan of Mellot, IN, Margeaux Nikkole Murray and Delaney Jane Murray both of Gonzales, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: James Amos. Homer worked for General Motors in Danville until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed going fishing for catfish with his good buddy Larry Gibbons and hunting for mushrooms with his buddy Clifford Atwell. He loved watching NASCAR and riding ATVs (poker runs) with his close friends for the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Montezuma Fish and Game Club. Homer was known and loved by many. He helped everybody and anyone he knew and loved paling around with his brother-in-law and good buddy William Willie Harper. A celebration of the life of Homer Amos will be held at 4 pm on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will follow the service at Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Monday, October 26, 2009 at the funeral home.
