Hollye Sue Barr, a beloved figure in her community and a steadfast presence within her family, departed this life on April 28, 2025, at the age of eighty-one. Born on October 17, 1943, in Danville, Illinois, Sue devoted her life to service; she enriched the lives of those around her through her myriad of contributions as a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and aunt.
For fifteen years, Sue served as a secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church, embodying the spirit of service in every task she undertook. Her commitment to her church was not merely professional; it was profoundly personal, evident in her care for the church's comfort dog, with whom she visited those in need of solace and support. Her efforts touched many lives, as she believed in sharing kindness wherever she went.
A passionate believer in giving back, she also dedicated herself to quilting, generously crafting for the cancer center, Veterans Affairs, and unwed mothers. Her remarkable skills as a cake decorator were showcased over a dazzling thirty-year tenure, a pursuit that brought joy to countless celebrations. Moreover, as the charter member of The Heart and Hands Night Quilters club, Sue left a legacy of creativity and caring that will resonate throughout her community for years to come.
Sue is survived by her devoted husband, Don Barr, and her cherished daughters, Dawn Williams and Diane (Paul) Murphy. She was a proud grandmother to Brittany Murphy, Bailee (Juan) Murphy-Sevilla, Hannah Williams, and Lucas Williams. Additionally, her great-granddaughter, Hadley Stephens, brings continued warmth to her family's lineage. Sue is also survived by her siblings, Robert Stuebe and Janice Jones.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Harold and Evelyn Stuebe, as well as her grandparents, all of whom dearly loved her.
