Hollis Ellen Fisher departed this life on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at her home in Danville. She was born in Normal, IL on December 25, 1953. She attended public schools in Normal and graduated from Walt Whitman High School in Huntington Station, New York. She attended Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls, New York. Later she attended and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School on Long Island, New York. She worked as a legal secretary in New York and Minneapolis. Hollis came to Danville to be of assistance to her mother who had a series of surgeries. She took classes at DAAC in Medical Transcription and worked for a time at Aunt Marthas Health Center. She was a former member of Iris Chapter Eastern Star and of Governor Bradford Chapter DAR. She loved her friends and reading, especially mysteries. Her survivors are her mother: Mrs. Jean Elliott Fisher of Danville; her brother: Michael Fisher of Weslaco, Texas; her uncle and aunt: Joe and Felicitas Elliott of Lake City, Michigan; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father: Hubert Fisher. They will miss her so much. A private family service was held for Hollis Fisher at GAR Cemetery in Homer with the Reverends Drs. Katie and Jimmy Hopper officiating. Sunset Funeral Home of Danville was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made in Holliss name to Cross Point.
