Patsy (Pat) Alice (Glavey) Hilleary, 74, entered into eternal life in the Meadowbrook wing for Alzheimers patients at Clark-Lindsey Village in Urbana, Illinois at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2008. She was born November 9, 1933 to Edwin W. Glavey and Alice C. (Witt) Glavey in Danville, Illinois. She married Lloyd L. Hilleary on October 21, 1956. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2003. They have two children, Greg (Mary Ann) Hilleary of Danville and Laurie (Dave) Johnson of Champaign. They have four grandchildren, Ross Hilleary (17) of Danville, Matthew (20), Jennifer (18) and Ashley (15) Johnson of Champaign. Her parents and her in-laws Lester & Elizabeth (Richardson) Hilleary, also preceded her in death. Pat is survived by her in-laws: Hazel (Hilleary) Gooch of Danville, Durward Wise of Danville, Doris (Hilleary) and Byron Wise of St. Joseph, and Floyd Hilleary of Reddick, Illinois. Pat grew up in Danville, Illinois. She attended Elmwood and Cannon Grade Schools, and was a 1952 graduate of Danville High School. She then attended Utterback-Brown Business College. While at Danville High School, she was the School Editor for the yearbook - the Medley, and during her senior year she served as President of the G.A.A. - the Girls Athletic Association. Pat was always active in softball and other sports during her school years. She and her friend Frances Greece won second place in the city doubles tennis contest. Pat also served as treasurer for the DHS Class of 1952 reunion committee for many years. She began her working career at Lauhoff Grain Company from 1953 until 1961. After the kids were out of High School she began working at the Vermilion County Treasurers Office in 1984 and retired from there in 2002. She served as an election judge for County Precinct -Danville 10 for many years. Pat had been active in the Danville community for over 45 years. She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. Pat was an active member in the Danville Jayncees and Danville American Business Club - AMDOES. While serving with the AMDOES, she was the Call Girl for the mens club every Wednesday to get their meal reservations for the 300 Room. She had been an active member of the Vermilion County Fair Association and could always be found in the Grandstand booth selling tickets with her friend Anne Funk. In addition, she served as the Superintendent for the Agriculture and Floriculture Departments. She was Treasurer of the Danville Area Womens Bowling Association for over 30 years. She won many individual and team bowling awards including the Danville Womens City Tournament Singles Championship. Pat was a member of the Vermilion County Republicans Womens Association. Pat continued to be very active with the schools that her children attended in Danville School District #118. She served as Chicken Noodle Dinner Ticket Lady at Lynch Grade School for many years and was active in PTA and PTO. She served on the Danville High School Instrumental Music Booster Board for six years. A quote from an article in the DHS Maroon and White dated November 16, 1951 states: Youd know her anywhere, shes outstanding in a crowd. Her hair is her torch; its flame red. If you havent already guessed who our bright star is, its Pat Glavey. Pat enjoyed traveling, bowling, crafts, caring for her dogs and especially spending time with her four grandchildren. She loved decorating the inside of her house for the holidays, especially for Christmas. Her family and friends will dearly miss her. A celebration of life for Pat Hilleary will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1930 North Bowman Avenue, Danville, with Pastor Daniel Fienen officiating. Entombment will be in Springhill Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville.
