Hester Ellen (Southard) Goin, born May 7, 1918, to Otha & Dona (Haun) Southard in Metcalf, IL, passed away on January 8th 2009 at the home of her daughter. She worked at Hyster Company for 31 years. She married Russell L. Goin in 1952. She is survived by three children; her daughter, Susan & Bob Ward of Danville, a son Wayne Goin of Fond Du Lac, WI, and son Clyde & Cyndie Goin of Decatur, IL; five grandchildren, Richard Dietz of Danville, Troy & Michelle Dietz of Bloomington, IL, Jamie & Steven Brown of Danville, Clinton & Kim Goin of Keller, TX, and Greg & Julie Goin of Swansea, IL; eight great grandchildren, Damian Dietz, Dylan & Dalton Brown of Danville, Ashley & Haley Dietz of Bloomington, IL, Shayne Dietz of Danville, and Megan and Matthew Goin of Keller, TX; a nephew, Bill Finchum of Westville, IL; a sisters-in-law, Mick Lightle of Hoopeston, IL, Dick & Joyce Garmon, Sam & Susie Garmon, both of Danville, IL, Bob & Betty Garmon of Bartlett, TN, Jim Garmon of Ottuma, IA, Barb Lanie of Pontiac; a nephew Dale & Mona McCallister of Ellisville, MS; a niece, Dr. Steve & Jana (McCallister) Schmidt: and very special friends, Patrick, Dolly, D.J. Wyatt and Jessie Holzmann of Fond Du Lac, WI. She liked to read, especially Danielle Steele books and listen to the Gaithers gospel music. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Dorothy Southard; sister & brother in law, Theida & Clifford Finchum; sister in law & brother in law, Dorothy & Bill Hurd, Mai & Gleason Garmon; brother in law, Ed Lightle & Merle Goin, and Darrell Garmon of Murfreesboro, TN; and granddaughter, Deanna Marie Dietz. A celebration of Hesters life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, January 12, 2009, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown. Merle McCallister will officiate. Visitation will be 2pm to 5pm, Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Pilot Grove Cemetery in Ridge Farm. Memorials may be made in Hesters name to Carle Hospice.
