Herschel Tiller, 91, of Danville died March 6, 2021 at UF Health Hospital in Leesburg, Florida. He was born a son of Lydia and Benjamin Tiller on February 3, 1930 in Littlefield, Texas. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him was his first wife of 43 years, Lorraine Tiller, and siblings Llyod Tiller, Archie Tiller, Carl Tiller, Harold Tiller, Ethel Duncan, and Ruth Johnson.
Herschels survivors include his wife Sarah Tiller, siblings Bobby (Elizabeth) Tiller of Shreveport, Louisiana, Joni (Roy) Davis of Kansas City, Missouri, and Bonnie Davis of Harrisonville, Missouri, along with many nieces and nephews.
Herschel was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling. He was quick with a joke and had a craftmanship that allowed him to make something out of almost nothing. He was also a member of the VFW and the Vermilion Fishing Club. He spent 39 years at Bohn Aluminum as an inspector before retiring.
Herschel proudly served his country in the United States Army and will be given military rites at Sunset Memorial Park prior to his inurnment next to Lorraine. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville.
