Cayuga, Ind. -- Herman E. Dreher, 75, of Cayuga, passed away at 3:33 a.m. EDT Thursday, March 19, 2009 at his residence. Herman was born November 17, 1933 in Vigo County, Indiana, the son of the late Harold "Bud" and Mildred Gossett Dreher. He married Patricia R. McCormick on May 5, 1955 in Shepardsville, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Carson(Patti)Dreher and Kent(Sandy)Dreher both of Cayuga, Indiana; three grandchildren, Mike(Roxann)Dreher, Sarah(Corey)Wilson and Benjamin Dreher; two great granddaughters, Alexandrea and Nichole Dreher; one sister, Mary Avenetti of Clinton, Indiana; two brothers, Jack(Audrey)Dreher of Terre Haute, Indiana and Bill(Beverly)Dreher of Clinton, Indiana; sister in Law, Shirley Dreher of West Terre Haute, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. Herman was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Dreher and one brother in law, Pancho Avenetti. Herman was a Foreman at the coal yard at P.S.I. until his retirement on December 31, 1991. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Marines . Herman was a member of the Hopewell Friends Church in Quaker, Indiana and the Cayuga American Legion Rainbow Post # 263. He enjoyed farming, raising flowers, volunteering his time for the Vermillion County 4-H and the Vermillion County Fair. Herman especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Hopewell Friends Church in Quaker, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Max Rees; Burial: Hopewell Cemetery in Quaker, Indiana with graveside military rites by the Cayuga American Legion Rainbow Post #263; Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. EDT Sunday, March 22, 2009 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
