Herbert 'Herb' Thompson

Herbert Herb' W. Thompson, 86, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:59pm, Monday, May 1, 2017, at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born on October 30, 1930, in Georgetown, the son of Millard and Melvina {Dowers} Thompson, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Pearl Ramsey on February 4, 1955. She will miss him dearly. Herb was a proud Veteran of the National Guard, as well as later serving in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Motors Tilton Foundry retiring after 34 years of service. Herb also worked for Benjamin Franklin's Store in Georgetown. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and having his faithful canine companion, Dixie, with him. Herb cherished his family and loved spending time with them. He is also survived by: his children, David (Cindy) Thompson of Springfield, MO and Anna (John) Shields of Nixa, MO; his grandchildren, Matt (Sarah) Shields of Nixa, MO & Adam (Amy) Shields of Clever, MO; and his great grandchildren, Levi Shields of Nixa, MO & Ashlynn Shields of Clever, MO. A celebration of Herb's life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.
