Herbert Dill

Herbert L. Dill, 89, of Georgetown, passed away at 8:50pm, Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his home just two days before his 90th birthday. He was born on August 5, 1933, in Harrisburg, Arkansas, the son of Herbert L. and Lena {Bond} Dill. He was united in marriage to Donna Loggains and they shared 71 years together. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by his children, Terry (Kelly) Dill of New Berlin, Pam (Greg) Emmert of Georgetown, Sandy Chandler of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Christopher (Susan) Sollars of Georgetown, Stacie (Mike) Sollars of Georgetown, Jodie (Rich) Ingram of Danville, James (Marie) Chandler of Monticello, Jamie (Josh) Baird of Vermilion Grove, Joe (Marie) Yowell of Oak Park, Whitney Emmert of Indianapolis, IN, Jeremy (Andrea) Staub of New Berlin, Brodie Dill of Loami, Breanna (Keyson) Markley of Springfield, Bailie Dill of Charleston, and Josh (Erin) Dill of Springfield; and his 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rick; and his grandson, Jacob Chandler; two brothers, Leon his sister, June; and his son-in-law, Jim Chandler. Herb retired from General Motors Tilton Foundry after working 34 years as a millwright. He attended Georgetown Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed gardening. He was known for his daily walks throughout Georgetown. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids. A celebration of Herbs life will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor Gary Farris officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his name to American Heart Association and American Cancer Foundation.
