Herbert Dale Smith

Herbert Dale Smith, 86, passed away at home with family by his side on August 16, 2016. Herbert was born on July 30, 1930 in Newell Township, the son of John Herbert and Emma Pearl (Ingram) Smith. He married Mary Jane Deck on October 21, 1951. She survives. Also surviving Herbert are his children Stuart, Steven, Susan and Spencer. Steven married Sharon Perrin in 1986, their children are Creighton (Esther), Brenden and Regan. Spencer married Madelon Pratt in 1991, their children are Evangeline and Henry. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Howard, John and Larry Smith, and his sister Mary Ann Astell. Herbert was a pastor of Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel for over 30 years, he also was a farmer and worked at Lakeside Funeral Home. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A Celebration of Herbert's life will take place on Saturday August 20, 2016 at 2pm, with an hour of visitation prior at Sunset Funeral Home 3940 N Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Doug McCord and Joe Humrichous. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday August 19, 2016 at 4-7pm. Memorials can be made in Herbert's name to Gideon's International or Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel.
