Herbert "Buddy" Dixon

Herbert “Buddy” Dixon, 76, of Danville passed away on September 27, 2024 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born on March 5, 1948 to the late Elise and Herbert Dixon, Sr. He grew up in Kingman, Indiana and enlisted in the United States Army, where he would proudly serve his country in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he soon enlisted in the Army National Guard.

Buddy married Melody Alcorn on November 16, 1996 and together they shared almost 29 years of marriage before her passing in May. He worked at Neff Concrete for over 26 years and eventually retired from AutoZone after 15 years of service. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller-skating and fishing. However, lately he much preferred playing cards and could usually be found tinkering around. He held various different trade skills that seemed to always come in handy. Buddy looked forward to the Men’s Club at Morey Chapel, where he and Meldoy had been members for numerous years.

Buddy is survived by his children Melissa (Charlie) Trimmel, H. Scott (Jennifer) Richards, Richard Hunt, and Amanda (Kyle) Lindsey; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Emily, Rich, John, and Elsie.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Buddy is preceded in death by his siblings Clara, Lydia, Carol, Alice, and Florence.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 12:00 pm CST at Sunset Funeral Home’s Houghton-Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown, IL.
