Cayuga, Ind. -- Henry M. "Bud" Dowers, Jr., 77, of Cayuga, passed away at 1:05 p.m. EDT Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at his daughters home in Clinton, Indiana. He was born February 12, 1933 in Eugene, Indiana, the son of the late Henry Merrill and Mildred May Hathaway Dowers, Sr. He married Barbara J. Jackson on April 11, 1953 in Veedersburg, Indiana. She preceded him in death on October 8, 1983. Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Dowers and Monica Dowers both of Clinton, Indiana; Candy(John)Whitlock of Mulberry, Indiana; one son, Henry(Cecilia)Dowers, III of Newport, Indiana; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Colson of Cayuga, Indiana; Marsha(Bill)Ernst of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Karen A. Dowers of Cayuga, Indiana; one brother, Norman(Janet)Dowers of Lodi, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Ronald Dowers. Bud retired in 2003 from Colonial Brick in Cayuga after 50 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army. Bud was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Post #263. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle. Bud especially enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren. Funeral services: 2 P.M. EDT Sunday, April 18, 2010 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana with graveside military rites by the Cayuga American Legion Post #263; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the funeral home.
