Danville Henry "Hank" Walsh, 94, of Danville passed away at 3:57 PM on January 9, 2022 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, IL.
Hank was born on January 8, 1928 the son of Henry and Victoria I. (Taverner) Walsh in Georgiaville, Rhode Island. He married Betty Marie Osborn on May 21, 1966 in Danville, IL and she preceded him in death on January 24, 2021.
Survivors include his son, Steve (Judy) Walsh of Flora, IL; his daughters, Vickie Lynn (Rick) Spidle of Mattoon and Sharon K. (Steve) Forth of Kilgore, TX; one stepson, Craig A. (Maggie) Smith of Danville; stepdaughter, Debbie S. (Steve) Todd of Danville; grandchildren, John (Nikki) Walsh of Dover, TN, Sarah (Joel) Hackney of Flora, IL, Stephanie (Kevin) Woods of Newton, IL, Shannon (James) Magness of Tyler, TX; step-grandchildren, Aaron S. (Ambre) Todd of Dunnellon, FL, Jamie (Sean) Cowie of Noblesville, IN, Alexis and Leighton Arnett of Danville; great grandchildren John R, Makenna, Alex, Claire, Carson, Carter, Landon and Olivia; step great-grandchildren Jenna, Austin, Alex and Sam; step great great grandchild Aspen and several nieces and nephews.
Hank is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty, two sisters, Anita M. Jose and Victoria I. Riley, and one stepson, G. Michael Smith.
Hank graduated from Providence Classical High School and the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the United States Army with the Second Infantry Division from January 1, 1946 until July 29, 1947. Hank worked his entire 38-year career with the General Electric Company working in Lynn, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Johnson City, NY, Morris, IL and the last 35 years in Danville, IL. He was a member of the American Legion, Anchor Masonic Lodge No 980, Potomac Masonic Lodge No 780 where he was Past Master, a Scottish Rite Mason where he was Chairman of the Banquet Committee and was presented the Meritorious Service Award.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Joel Hackney will officiate. Entombment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 5-7:00 PM with Masonic Rites accorded at 7:00 PM.
It is kindly requested that those in attendance of visitation or the funeral wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that Memorial Contributions be made in Hanks memory to the American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard.
