Henry C. 'Hank' Vacketta

Danville - Henry C. "Hank" Vacketta, 87, of Danville, IL formerly of Hoopeston, IL passed away at 6:25 am on July 5, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. "Hank" was born on March 30, 1929 the son of John O. and Louise (Cimo) Vacketta in Danville, IL. He married Patricia A. Scott on November 23, 1950 in Georgetown, IL and she survives in Danville, IL Other survivors include one son: Bradley (Lorraine) Vacketta of Columbus, IN, one daughter: Annette (Stephen) Thompson of Colleyville, TX, one sister: Florence Gerulski of Westville, IL, three grandchildren: Vincent Vacketta of Chicago, IL, Avangeline Vacketta of Brooklyn, NY and Michelle (Jay) Hastings of St. Louis, MO, as well as two great-grandchildren: Harlow and Josephine Hastings of St. Louis, MO. "Hank" was preceded in death by his parents. "Hank" was a graduate of the University of Illinois and served in the United States Navy, as well as the Navy Reserves, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Hoopeston, the Ira Owen Kreager American Legion Post 384, Hoopeston, IL, and the Danville Elks Club. He enjoyed spending his free time gardening and loved to play golf. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday July 11, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with Military Rites accorded by the Ira Owen Kreager American Legion Post 384, Hoopeston, IL. Officiating will be Rev. Wade Meranda and Rev. Ann Schwartz. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held Sunday July 10, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
