Helen M. Woodrum, 83, of Danville, passed away at 2:47 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born on February 1, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of George and Marguerite (Rogge) Kerr. She married Harlan E. Woodrum on April 30, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Helen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harlan Woodrum; one son- Dean Woodrum of Indianapolis, Indiana and one daughter- Linda (Anthony) Post of Inverness, Illinois; four grandchildren- Heather (Brian) Ruff of Chicago, Illinois, Aaron Post of Inverness, Illinois, Alison Post of Chicago, Illinois and Carla Skipton Boudreau of Springfield, Illinois; one sister-in-law- Esther Hurley of Covington, Indiana; one brother-in-law- Earl Woodrum of Danville and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant sister- Ruth Kerr. Helen was an active member of Central Christian Church. She was an Elder Emeritus, former Chairperson of the Church Board, member of Central Christian Church Foundation, member of the CoWed class, Sunday school teacher, member of the Christian Womens Fellowship and leader of the Joy Group. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Florida, California, and Arizona. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was a charter member of the Sweet Adelines of Danville and co-owned Swing n Spring miniature golf and Woodrum Electric. Helen founded the local Cancer Societys Reach to Recovery for breast cancer survivors and received the American Cancer Societys Award of Appreciation for her years of outstanding service as Reach to Recovery Coordinator. A Celebration of the Life of Helen M. Kerr Woodrum will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007 at Central Christian Church, 1101 N. Vermilion St. Danville, with Rev. Dr. Don Van Zant officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 " 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Sunsets Community and Life Tribute Center 3550 N. Vermilion St. Danville (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Home).
