Helen Stingley

Helen Barbara (Cundiff) Stingley Helen was met by angels that lifted her up into heaven to be with God and Jesus Christ our Lord at noon on July 17, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Il. Helen was born on her parents farm on January 23, 1935, to Myrtle (Anderson) & Lee Barton Cundiff in rural Danville, Il. Helen has one brother, Robert Lee Cundiff (Anna). Helen married Frank Junior Singley on December 24, 1952. Together they built a home on the family farm. Helen and Frank had three children; Michael Allen (stillborn), Linda (Stingley) Harshbarger of Oakwood, Il & Cheryl (Jack) Pruitt of Danville, Il. Frank preceded her in death on October 16, 1988 of a long illness with their parents. She grew up on the farm helping her father farm & mother produce a garden, where she acquired a strong work ethic. Helen worked in a few factories in Danville, which no longer exist & sold avon & Saladmaster cookware retiring from Danville VA Medical Center in 1990, where she was a certified nursing assistant and housekeeper, loving every minute of it & her coworkers. Helen worked, and then came home to care for her 2 grandchildren (spoiled them rotten) & was a caregiver to her husband who had been ill for years and then her mother after retirement. Helens grandchildren were the love of her life. Grandson Joshua Pruitt & Priscilla (Mark Pesek) Pruitt. She was then blessed with 3 great-grandsons; Gunner Pruitt, Tucker & Jasper Pesek with whom she was so delighted with and they - nicknamed her “Baby Goose.” Helen is survived by many nieces and nephews, too many to count, and a special friend Joseph Shaw. Surviving Helen also are her Chihuahua dogs; Misty & Baby Sissy, who loved her and protected her dearly. Her hobbies were camping, vacationing with her daughter- Linda, family, shopping, auctions, garage sales, visiting with friends at Oakwoods truck stops over coffee and having many pets. Helen had many health problems throughout the years and beat the odds, living a full fulfilled life. She had been very sick since November 2013, in which she put up the good old German and Irish fight. She fought very hard through many serious illnesses with her strong stubborn will and her faithful daughter, Linda at her side, during hospitalizations, rehab and caring for her at home. Helen will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, kindness, compassionate giving heart & a true believer in God & Jesus Christ our Lord. She had a good sense of humor & wit. Her family is heartbroken to see the monarch & backbone of the family gone, but are overwhelemed with gratitude that they had such a strong woman in their lives. Helen will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her and loved her. We Love You “MORE!” A celebration of Helens life will be held on, Monday, July 21, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Danville with Phil Jackson officiating.
