Helen M. Snyder,91, of Oakwood, died at 2:41 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at Provena United Samaritan Medical Center in Danville. She was born November 29, 1915, in Danville, the daughter of Roy H and Ruth Firebaugh Albert. She married Barton Snyder on September 19, 1936, and he preceded her in death on September 26, 1974. Helen is survived by one daughter, Carole A (David) Trowbridge of the Oakwood area; grandchildren, Jill (Bill) Brinkoetter of Champaign, IL, and Dawn (Tim) Lee of Oakwood, IL; great-grandchildren Kale and Jade Brinkoetter and Logan, Cameron and Parker Lee; and sister-in-law, Alice Snyder. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents . Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church of Newtown and the Ladies Aid Society of the Church. Helen volunteered over 4000 hours at Lakeview Hospital. She was a Charter Member of the Snider Home Extension Unit and later of the New Oak Unit. Helen was a quilter and enjoyed traveling. She thought the world of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She thought of her son-in-law, David, as her hero. A celebration of Helens life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2007, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastors Allen Miller and Dennis Divan officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2940 N. Vermilion, Danville, IL.
