Helen June Sherman, age 85, of Danville, passed away at 4:41 am on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Provena USMC Logan Campus in Danville. She was born June 10, 1923 in Fithian the daughter of Emmil and Eulalie (Smith) Dalbey. On May 21, 1949, she married Donald P. Sherman. He preceded her in death. Helen is survived by her six children: Donald P. (Sherrill) Sherman II of Georgetown, Terry L. (Regina) Sherman of Danville, Rebecca (Gary) Goble of Fithian, Everett M. Sherman and David Sherman both of Danville, Cynthia (Paul) Dunham of Humboldt, TN; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters: Dorothy Christie, Margaret Grimes; one brother: Stanley Dalbey; and one great grandson. Helen worked at Delco Ramey (G.M.), Dupont, Springhill Cemetery, Danville Gardens, and Colonial Manor Nursing Home, where she retired. She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, watching humming birds, and playing cards with her family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. A celebration of the life of Helen Sherman will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Springhill Cemetery.
