Helen Jean The Greek (Poullos) Roark, 71, of Chrisman, IL, died on July 27th, 2005, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village. Helen was born in Danville, December 22nd, 1933, to Steve and Belva (Chandler) Poullos. On February 5th, 1951 Helen married Leonard John Roark, her high school sweetheart, who preceded her in death on March 7, 2005. Helen and John had celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in February 2005. She and her family had lived in Streator, Springfield, Danville, and Hoopeston, Illinois and Wauwatosa, WI. They lived in Decatur, IL for 20 years before moving to Westville, IL, where they lived for six years prior to developing health problems in 2003, which necessitated her and John moving to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. Helen was a homemaker with many artistic talents; she loved to sew and crochet, and her handiwork was outstandingly beautiful. She loved to fish at Kentucky, Decatur Lake or any other body of water, with her husband and anyone else interested in fishing, and as a rule she would bring in the biggest catch of all. She loved shopping at garage sales. Helens top priority was her family and she was a loving and comforting mother to her eight children and 22 grandchildren, who will all miss her immensely. Surviving are her children: Debbie Roark of Danville, Mike Roark and his fianc(c)e, Debbie, of Decatur, Patty (Nick) Yeugelowitz of Cape Coral, FL, John Jay (Jamie) Roark, and Scott (Traci) Roark both of Crossville, TN, Lesa (Terry) Guy of Marshall, IL, Tina (Todd) Smiley of Westville, IL, and Rena Roark of Ridge Farm, IL. Helen is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Fullen and Marilyn Halls, many nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Crow. Preceding Helen in death besides her husband, John, were a sister, Martha Dukes, a brother, Steven Poullos, and her parents.
