Helen Marie Hyland

Helen Marie Hyland, 98, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville, Illinois.

She was born February 16, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Chester and Flora (Stivers) Livingston.

She married Harold Hyland, and they later divorced. Together they had five children.

Surviving are her children: Denise (Butch) Schroeder, Diana Doan, Debra (Scott) Fulmer and Todd (Teresa Yocius) Hyland; her sister: Stella Cox; her grandchildren: Michelle Doan, Marsha Musson, Marianne Doan, Jack (Maria) Doan, Jamie (Derek) Van Meenen, Dustin (Bethany) Kegeris, Brittany (Kevin) Crowder, Brock Hyland-Baker and Jeremy (Melissa) Gaskill; 17 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a son: Terry R. Hyland; two sisters: Hester Murray and Esther Seitzinger; and a brother: Jim Livingston.

Helen worked at Tee-Pak for 25 years before her retirement in 1994. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler and enjoyed all of the friends and memories she made bowling in a league for several years. She also enjoyed Bingo, “Slots” and having an evening glass of wine or a beer. She always looked forward to getting her hair and nails done. Most of all, Helen loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Hawthorne Inn Memory Care Unit for caring for Helen and loving her as one of their own, as she loved them. Helen’s family truly felt that they could not have had her in a better place.

The family would also like to thank special friend and caregiver, Tina Winslow, for caring for Helen before going to the Hawthorne Inn.

Pastor Miles Clark will officiate a graveside service for Helen at 10AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park 3901 N Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois.
