Helen Marie Brennan, 97, of Naples Florida, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away at 1:33pm on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Frances Georgeson Hospice House in Naples Florida. She was born on September 17, 1914, in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of Harris E. and Adele H. (Hahn) Maxey. Both are deceased. She married Robert A. Brennan in East St. Louis, IL, on October 24, 1938. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1999. Surviving are a son; Thomas (Leah) Brennan of Danville, and three daughters; Susan (Robyn Meltzer) Brennan of Oakland California, Barbara Brennan of Naples, FL, and Patricia (William) Westphal of Danville. Five grandchildren; Robert (Tina) Brennan of Danville, Jay (Chihiro) Brennan of Savoy, IL, Ann Marie (Kerry) Miller of Norfolk, VA, William (Melissa) Westphal III, of Sedalia, MO, Brendan Westphal of Annapolis, MD, and her eleven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Robert, Helen was also preceded in death by her brother; Robert Maxey, and sisters; Maxine Brennan, and Mary Potter. Helen and Bob Brennan owned and operated Danville Auto Parts until they retired to Naples, FL. While in Danville, they were active in the Danville Boat Club. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville, and also St. Leo's Church in Bonita Springs, Florida. A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Brennan will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, November 28, 2011 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1303 North Walnut Street in Danville with Father Greg Nelson officiating. She will be entombed next to her husband, Robert, at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville.
