Helen Maria Epperson

Helen Maria Epperson, 87, of Covington, Indiana, went to be with her Lord on November 24, 2011 at the Waters of Covington. She was born on June 7, 1924 in Hume, IL, to Joseph Hampton and Ollie Theodore (Henson) Spencer. She married James Lawrence Epperson on June 30, 1941 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2001. They had six children together; James L. Epperson II; Nancy Jo (Charles) Holycross of James Island, S.C., Fran (Donald) Cumbow of Covington, IN; Skip (Lola) Epperson, of Cayuga, IN; Becky (Kevin) Jones of Covington, IN; and Terry (Lesa) Epperson, also of Covington, IN. Her fourteen grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, also survive Helen. In addition to her husband, James, her parents, a son; James Epperson II, two brothers, and one sister preceded Helen in death. She was a homemaker, knitter, and loved working with flowers. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Danville, and loved the Lord, her pastor, and church friends. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, playing Yahtzee, and reading her Bible. A Celebration of Life Service for Helen Maria Epperson is scheduled for 2:00pm EDT on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Sunset's Covington Chapel located at 420 3rd Street in Covington, IN, with burial to take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL, following the service. Pastor Bob Fairchild has been asked to officiate the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-8pm EDT, on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the funeral home.
