Helen Maddox, 87, of Westville, passed away at 1:53pm, Thursday, November 20, 2008, at her home surrounded by her two devoted daughters. She was born February 1, 1921, in Danville the daughter of Floyd and Nancy (Trosper) Lewin. She was married to John Ernie Maddox on April 7, 1939, in Covington, Indiana. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1994, after 55 wonderful years of marriage. Helen is survived by: two daughters, Nancy (Ed) Miller of Oakwood & Carol (Jerry) Whiles of Westville; one son, Floyd Bud Maddox of Westville; two daughters-in-law, Jackie Maddox of Westville & Carlene Maddox of Florida; fifteen grandchildren that included Beth Kirk of Texas & Jane Johnson of Danville who were lovingly raised by Helen her two step-grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, & cousings including a special nephew, Dannie Pierce of Texas. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Ernie one daughter, Joyce; two sons, Steve two sisters, Louise Reed & Sona Low Meeker. Helen attended John Greer Schools in Hoopeston and worked at Butler Brothers and Top Value in Danville. She was a long-time member of the Westville American Legion Womens Auxiliary Post #51 and the Women of Moose Lodge 1001, where she served as junior and senior regent twice. Helen was a die-hard Cubs fan. She was always smiling and happy. She touched a lot of peoples lives and will be greatly missed. A celebration of Helens life will be held at 1:30pm, Monday, November 24th, 2008, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with a visitation beginning at Noon until the service begins. Jason Smith of the Westville Church of Christ will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in her name to the Mooseheart for Children.
