Helen M. Stafford

CHAMPAIGN- Helen M. Stafford, 101, of Champaign-Urbana, affectionately known as “Selling Helen” in the Real Estate Business during the 60s and 70s; Realtor of the Year in 1970, quietly passed away on December 21, 2014 with family at her side. Helen was born in Alexandria, VA on September 29, 1913 to Francis W. McLane and Mildred Phillips McLane. She joins her husband, George T. Stafford and young son, Billie Ray Stafford, who preceded her in death; as well as her siblings. She enjoyed traveling around the world by plane and ship. Her legacy will show that in the last 60 years of her life, she introduced most all of her relatives to the thrills of travel and history of the world. She hosted them on her journeys. She enjoyed the excitement of life and rarely looked back. She saw opportunity and adventure in the future and encouraged everyone to continue to move forward and never give up on their dreams! She is survived by one son, “Rob” Stafford and his wife Sue, of Colorado; one niece, Susan and her husband Dawson of Whitkopf, TN; and 46 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Cremation rights have been accorded by Sunset Funeral Home, Champaign-Urbana Chapel, 710 N. Neil Street, Champaign, IL, 61820. A Celebration of Life with family will take place later this year.
