Helen M Ross

WESTVILLE - Helen M. Ross, 87 of Westville, passed away at 9:25pm on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. Ross was born on May 17, 1919, in Hegeler, IL, the daughter of Baleslaw and Sophia (Sment) Stefanika. Both her parents precede her in death. On Oct 19, 1940, Helen was wed to Joseph T. Ross in Hegeler. He preceded her in death in Dec of 1976. Helen is survived and will be missed by her son, Bob (Joyce) Ross of Santa Cruz, CA., her daughter, Sharon (John) Sleva of Westville, her five grandchildren, John J. (Tracy) Sleva of St. Cloud Minnesota, Julie (Ed) Zimmerman of Danville, Laura (Chris) Salerno of San Diego, CA, Michael Ross of San Diego, CA., and Matthew Ross of Santa Cruz, CA.,. Also surviving are Helens two great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Owen Sleva. She is preceded in death by her two brothers and three sisters. Helen was a member of St. Marys Church in Westville. She was a 1937 Westville High School graduate and was employed as a book binder for Eureka and later Faulstich Printing Company of Danville, retiring after several years. She was a member of the Westville Womens Auxiliary, and the Altar and Rosary Society. Helen enjoyed Collecting Ceramics, growing flowers and shopping. She cherished her time she spent with family and friends. A funeral mass for Helen M. Ross is scheduled for 10:00am on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at St. Marys Church in Westville. Final resting place will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel of Westville located at 141 S. State St. in Westville. Memorial donations may be made in Helens name to the American Cancer Society.
