Helen Louise Charles, 83, of Danville, died at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at North Logan Health Care Center in Danville. She was born December 4, 1922 in Potomac, Illinois, the daughter of Mose and Gertrude (Poulson) Spain. She married Leland Jack Edward Charles on August 7, 1975 in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1992. Helen is survived by one daughter, Helen Ruth Norton of Danville; two grandchildren, Kimber L. Eaton and Marlena A, Cooper both of Danville; four great-grandchildren, Gregory A. Spain, Kasja R. Reitsma, Jasmine M. Cooper, and Cheyanne M. Cooper all of Danvile; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Spain of Danville; two sisters, Esther B. Underwood of Danville and Margaret Bird of Catlin and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and one great-great-grandson. Helen retired from Lakeview Hospital after working in the housekeeping department for 12 years. She enjoyed going to church, jigsaw puzzles, embroidery, cards and flowers. Helen loved watching T.V., especially soap operas. She devoted herself to her family and friends. She was a member of the Golden Ages and Evangelical Church. A celebration of Helens life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor J.T. Riggs officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. Memorials may be contributed in Helens name to Evangelical Church.
