Helen L. Simmons

Helen L. Simmons, 81, of Danville passed away on February 2, 2023 at Accolade Healthcare in Danville. She was born on May 20, 1941 in Danville to parents Lovell and Zella Smiley. She graduated from Danville High School and married Cecil Simmons, Sr. on July 22, 1961 in Danville. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2003. Together, she and Cecil raised three sons, Cecil "Bubba" (Shelly) Simmons, Jr., John (Kim) Simmons, and Jesse (Crystal) Simmons. All surviving. She is also survived by her grandchildren Holly Simmons, Zack Simmons, Jacob (Chelsey) Simmons, and Brock Simmons; and great-grandchildren Alaina, Zendeya, Beau, and Zayden.

Helen is reunited with her husband; her parents; and her grandson, Brandon Simmons, who passed in June of 2015.

After raising their sons, Helen worked at Vermilion County Nursing Home for nearly 20 years before her eventual retirement. Her favorite pastime was playing the lotto.

Helens family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Accolade Healthcare in Danville for the wonderful care over the past couple of years.

She will be buried with Cecil at the Danville National Cemetery.
